Dr Vinita Godinho

General Manager Advisory, Good Shepherd Microfinance

Biography

As the General Manager of the Advisory team, Vinita is responsible for establishing a fully sustainable advisory and consulting function, focusing on inclusive finance at Good Shepherd Microfinance (GSM). Her role oversees research and advocacy efforts, providing policy, positioning and intellectual leadership across the organisation. This team also undertakes the impact evaluation for all GSM programs, focusing on the clients’ economic mobility, and broader socio-economic impacts such as enabling inclusion and resilience.

Vinita also manages the innovative Financial Inclusion Action Plans (FIAPs) program, an action-focused project bringing together key stakeholders from multiple sectors to work collaboratively on promoting financial inclusion and financial resilience, reducing inequalities and contributing to inclusive growth. In addition, her team provides technical assistance and support to microfinance programs across the Good Shepherd international network, in particular highlighting the critical role that economic justice can play in enabling social justice and inclusion.

Prior to joining GSM, Vinita has had an extensive career in banking and consulting, and is widely recognised as an influential and respected leader in financial inclusion, action research, community development and financial services.
