Janine Way

Program Manager, Oxley High School Girls Academy


A proud Kamilaroi woman from Coonabarabran, Janine has worked for the Department of Education for the past 16 years. She is currently the Program Manager of the Oxley Academy in Tamworth and Oxley High School’s Aboriginal Education Officer.

Janine has achieved numerous awards in her field of Education such as the completion of The University of New England TRAX Program which she graduated with a High Distinction. Trained in Rock and Water for Girls, Sista Speak Facilitator, Hairdresser and Trained Dance Teacher are just a few of the accomplishments that Janine has achieved.

Her most recent award was the Tamworth Zonta Club 2017 Indigenous Woman of the Year finalist for her exceptional work in promoting Indigenous Girls’ education.

She is recognised in the wider Aboriginal Community as a positive Role Model and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of the students she works with. Outstanding results are already being recognised and positive differences being made in the girls’ lives thanks to Janine’s tireless work.
