Janina qualified as a Social Worker from the University of Warwick in the UK in 1990. Employed as a Social Worker for Warwickshire County Council, Janina predominantly worked with vulnerable adults in the mental health, intellectual disability and aged care fields.
In 1997, Janina emigrated with her young daughter to Perth, Western Australia. Empowerment has continued to be the running and common theme of the varied roles in which she has been employed since 1997. These roles have included Assessor for the inaugural team of the Western Australian Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency, Manager of aged care facilities, and Inspections and Research Officer for the Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services. Since 2012, Janina has been working as a Customer Liaison and Policy Development (Complaints) Officer for Activ Foundation Inc. , the largest disability service provider in WA. Janina also regularly visits WA prisons as an Independent Visitor, receiving prisoner complaints. She is a certified Complaints Professional with SOCAP.
